A recent study by Toronto media company, Corporate Knights, has ranked the top sustainable companies in the world. Global market leader in bathroom and piping technologies, Geberit, was named in the top 10 for its overall commitment to sustainability along side companies including General Electric, Pacific Gas and Electric, TNT NV, Hennes & Mauritz, Nokia, Siemens, Unilever, Vodafone and Smiths Group. Geberit is the only Australian bathroom and plumbing manufacturer to make this list.
According to the World Commission on Environment and Development, sustainability can be defined as "forms of progress that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs." This particular study involved Corporate Knights working in tandem with a research firm to clarify sustainable practices by collecting data on 3,000 global public companies and evaluating them according to 11 different metrics. As a result of that research, it has published its first-ever ranking of the worlds 100 most sustainable companies.
