Which bathroom generation do you belong to?

Back when running cold and hot water was not a given, this is what a lot of bathrooms looked like in the 1960s. The bathroom was a purely functional room in which everything you needed was squeezed into a small space.

Then the seventies rolled along, bringing colour into the bathroom. Whether bahama beige, mustard yellow or ruby red – the most important thing was to have a specific colour scheme.

The 1980s were characterised by design, which had to be different and show your individuality. The functionality of everyday objects was of less importance. Individuality was in great demand in bathrooms – you could show yours by using playful graphic elements in tiles, for example.

The standard of living rose significantly and it became important to have light, inviting spaces. If you were able to afford it, more space was dedicated to the bathroom and more energy went into designing it.

Simple and relaxed design is the name of the game today. People do not just seek added value in the visible elements, but also in the elements that are hidden away – functional additional benefits are what make the difference between good design and great design.
