Quality of Life
Through Innovation and Sustainability
Geberit is renowned for excellence in sanitary technology and operates in 50 countries around the world with about 12,000 staff. With the headquarters located in Switzerland and more than 30 production plants around the world, Geberit is the European market leader for sanitary products and has initiated numerous industry developments since its foundation in 1874. The company has been present in Australia for 15 years and prides itself on quality products and outstanding service and technical support.
Geberit has a long tradition of quality, reliability and innovation. All production sites and logistics as a whole work in accordance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, and OHSAS 18001 standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management System, with some of these integrating the ISO 50001 standard for Energy Management.
What sets the company apart from its competitors is the demonstration of a social conscience across all products, sectors and processes. Every day, Geberit practises a holistic approach to sustainable thinking including the wellbeing of their employees, the development of water-saving solutions, energy-efficient production, and fully recyclable products to protect Mother Earth.
For example, Geberit cisterns are blow-moulded and made of recyclable HDPE, which is literally indestructible. They don't have any joints, which means that they are toxin-free.
All Geberit products are fully recyclable, which cuts out waste in the manufacturing process, and every part is re-used; even the plastic bags that carry spare parts. For the push buttons , a chrome or satin metal sheet is heat-pressed onto the push plate, which results in better adherence than electroplating and, at the same time, is environmental-friendly. Sound insulation and simple product disposal are also part of responsible product design.
Sustainability does not only play a vital role in the production process with energy-efficient production plants, but it also applies to the sourcing of material and logistics as well as Occupational Health and Safety Management. It is the people who make a difference at Geberit.
As a consequence, Geberit offers excellent work conditions and delivers ethically responsible training for their employees to develop their skills according to the sustainable corporate culture.
The social conscience further extends to partners, suppliers, customers and the society as a whole. Geberit aims to deliver excellent products that have a positive impact on the quality of every-day life. For example, Geberit demonstrates a commitment to basic human rights by supporting projects for clean drinking water and basic sanitation in developing countries. In addition to providing money and materials, Geberit also plans, manages and coordinates the entire social project with its own employees and apprentices, who get the opportunity to work two weeks on-site at various projects around the world.
Suppliers are expected to adhere to a comprehensive Code of Conduct based on the same standards that Geberit applies to its own operations, covering areas such as environmental protection, socially acceptable working conditions and fair business practices.
Furthermore, environmental impact is considered a significant factor in logistics and resulted in the installation of an extensive life cycle assessment process. As a result, Geberit is continuously working on the reduction of CO2 emissions and chooses to work with selected companies only.
Every single day, Geberit strives to provide new solutions for bathroom design to offer architects, builders, and homeowners peace of mind, design freedom, and products that not only stand the test of time but also improve the quality of life.
