Learning Outcomes

  • Understand Deemed To Satisfy (DTS) and how this differs from a Performance Solution in the NCC.
  • Understand and identify the different terminology with product compliance, including: NCBP, NCP & Fit For Purpose.
  • Understand and identify WaterMark certification.
  • Understand WELS Ratings and how this is applied.

Performance Criteria

  • PC 44: Understand the roles and types of relevant consultants and suppliers as well as applicable construction terminology.
  • PC 45: Understand processes for selecting materials, finishes, fittings, components and systems, based on consideration of quality and performance standards, the impact on Country and the environment, and the whole life carbon impact of the project.
  • PC 46: Understand the processes for producing project documentation that meets the requirements of the contract and procurement procedure and complies with regulatory controls, building standards, codes, and conditions of construction and planning approvals.

CPD Sustainability

Learning Outcomes

  • Identify and define common terminologies related to sustainability.
  • Identify tools to help distinguish the difference between genuine sustainability and greenwashing.
  • Explain the difference between a good practice product and a best practice product.
  • Outline how to work with manufacturers that do not have products currently captured in the GBCA database.

Performance Criteria

  • PC 33: Be able to investigate, coordinate and integrate sustainable environmental systems – including water, thermal, lighting and acoustics – into the conceptual design.
  • PC 39: Be able to integrate the material selection, structural and construction systems established in the conceptual design into the detailed design and documentation.
  • PC 46: Be able to produce project documentation that meets the requirements of the contract and procurement process and complies with regulatory controls, building standards and codes, and conditions of construction and planning approvals.
